Nau mai, Haere mai!
I am the proud principal of this wonderful school located in the beautiful valley of Uruti, Taranaki. At Uruti Kura, we take pride in being a small rural school offering education from year 0 to Year 8, the only full primary in the area. As a smaller school the tamariki are exposed to a great deal of opportunities that other schools do not have the chance to participate in. We have gained silver status in Enviroschools and are currently moving towards gold. We have won 2 very prestigious awards as a school that recognises the importance of the future and our environment. We belong to one of the oldest clusters in the area, the Tainui Cluster, getting together to compete and celebrate our unique rural culture. Our commitment to celebrating and upholding our Māori culture means we have strong connections with our local iwi, Ngāti Mutunga.
Our community acknowledges the importance of students engaging in purposeful topics with strong ties to the local community. In addition to our robust reading, writing, and math programmes, we provide authentic learning experiences that connect to our local environment, people, and places.
We encourage students to embrace our outdoor classroom and our passion for environmental learning, evidenced by our students' efforts that won us the Taranaki Environmental Action Award for 2024.
We welcome visitors to our school and would love to show you around our beautiful kura.
Ngā mihi nui
